Behind the Scenes

The journey of writing the Pyromage series and the personal challenges and triumphs of each book has been a light in the miasma. Because I don't write with AI I have to rely on my own mind for a satisfactory plot. I mean, someone has to train AI, right?

So far, here's what I've done:

PYROMAGE 2
- first draft
- read through
- beta readers
- listen through

But what does all of this mean?

The first draft comes from an outline that just has the main points of what I want to do. It doesn't mean things don't take a turn, it's just how I start the ideas in my head and write them down with a loose idea to what's going to happen.

I then let the manuscript sit. Usually a month but sometimes I wait longer. It depends on if I go long on another project. Because when something sits, I'm usually working on another book.

When I read through the manuscript, I haven't looked at it in a while. I erase all the "bad" words. I have a list of naughty words that get taken out of the manuscript like adverbs and repetitive words.

After that, it's time for Beta Readers! I have a few trusted betas that help me make the story stronger and point out things I should have seen. Sometimes I even have to go back and add, re-arrange or take out scenes.

I do a "listen through" which means I use a text to speech app after I do all my corrections from Betas to make sure words are cohesive.

Then it goes off to the copy editor. When it comes back, I do the adjustments, format the book and give the specs to the cover artist. That's the overview process.

I've done my listen through on Pyromage 2 and am ready for the copy editor to do his thing with it.

Word Count: 72,881

A little longer than the first book and the third book might be longer than the second. Time will tell!

I'll make sure to keep up with the updates!

Until next time...
...happy reading!
